Questions, answered straight
What do I need to use Morello?
A browser. Morello runs at morello.app, so there is nothing to install and no setup to check. Morello for Mac, the native tier that builds SwiftUI apps, needs macOS 14 or newer and Xcode.
Do I actually own the code?
Yes, entirely. Every app is a standard React project: React, Vite, TypeScript, and Tailwind, with no proprietary framework in it. We claim no ownership and no revenue share over anything you build, and if you cancel your plan the code you built stays yours.
What kind of apps can it build?
It's strongest at focused web apps, trackers, timers, journals, calculators, lists, small games. It builds real multi-screen apps that save your data in the browser. It does not stand up a backend or a database for you, and we'd rather tell you that here than after you've paid.
Can I put my app online?
Your app is online as soon as it builds. Every run ends with a link where the app is running, so you can open it on your phone or send it to someone. App Store submission is a Morello for Mac job, since that tier produces a native Xcode project you submit with your own Apple Developer account.
Does my app have a backend or a database?
No. Morello builds the front end. Your app can save data in the browser, so trackers, journals, and lists work properly, but there is no server, no accounts, and no shared database behind it. If you need one, you or a developer can add it to the project later.
Can I still get native iOS apps?
Yes, through Morello for Mac. It is the native tier: same plain-English start, but it writes SwiftUI, compiles on your own Mac with Xcode, and runs your app in the iOS Simulator. The Mac app page has the details.
Do I need my own AI account or API key?
No. Generation runs through Morello's service and is metered in credits, that's what your plan buys. No keys to manage, no separate AI bill.
Who can see my prompts and code?
Your prompts and generated code pass through Morello's generation service to build your app, and the code is held on our servers so your app can be built and previewed. We don't use your prompts or your apps to train models, and we don't share them. The privacy policy sets out the detail.
What happens if a build fails?
Morello catches build errors and fixes them itself as part of the same run, that's normal, and you can watch it happen in the transcript. If a run still can't finish, the credits it used are spent, but the per-build spend cap stops any run from running away, and checkpoints mean your last good version is never lost.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, anytime. Unused credit-pack credits keep working, and the code you built stays yours. Cancelling never takes anything away from you.
How do credits work?
Every generation run, a new app or a change, uses credits based on the actual AI work it took, and Morello shows the running cost while it builds. A bigger or more detailed app costs more than a simple one, so the number varies. Plan credits refill monthly; credit packs never expire.
